Liz grew up in Durango, Colorado (Ryne's hometown). She attended Colby College and graduated in 2014 with a degree in Environmental Studies, Marine Science. During her time at Colby, Liz competed on the Woodsmen Team (essentially competitive lumberjacking), which unknowingly was preparing her for Alaska!
For the first two years after graduating, Liz was a fish observer in Hawaii but has since found her true passion: ducks. Studying ducks have allowed her to travel all over the North, including Kaktovik for Eiders, North Dakota for dabbling ducks, and Saskatchewan for banding ducks.
In between her duck adventures, Liz visited the kennel several times, so spending an entire winter was the logical next step. This will be Liz's first winter mushing, and she plans to run in the 2018 Copper Basin 300 with the Ryno 2nd team.
